Scam Alert, Beware of Impostors

I guess I should be flattered...

March 3, 2026by @DurdenBTC

Well I’ve gotten large enough for people to begin impersonating me, trying to phish/scam my subscribers (you beautiful lot, you).

A fake account using my profile picture and the handle @btcmacrowarroom has been messaging subscribers on Substack, pitching a “private, invite-only list” and asking for your email or directing you to a random Gmail address.

This is not me.

A few things to keep in mind:

  1. I will never DM you first. Not on Substack, not on WhatsApp, not anywhere.

  2. I will never ask for your email or personal info via DM.

  3. The only official links are this Substack (durdenbtc.substack.com) and my website (durdenbtc.com).

  4. My official handle is always DurdenBTC — anything else is a fake.

Here’s what the impostor’s profile and DM look like so you know what to watch for:

If you get a message from someone claiming to be me, check the handle and the profile. This impostor has zero published posts and zero subscribers, dead giveaway.

Shoutout to for being op-sec aware enough to flag this. If anyone else has been contacted by this account, please let me know.

Stay sharp out there.

— Durden out.
