A Year of Tools, Given Away
Over the past year I’ve published a steady stream of Bitcoin indicators, trend strategies, and trading tools — and every single one of them is free. This page is the single home for all of it. Some of these started life behind the paywall. The 8th Rule in particular was once the crown jewel of my private paid subscription. It’s free now.
The logic is simple: free tools earn trust, and trust is the only currency that matters. If a free indicator helps you size a position or sidestep a drawdown, you’ll have a good idea of what the full systems — the Macro Regime Engine and Arsenal BTC — can do. Everything below works on a free TradingView account. Closed-source scripts are usable without limitation; two are fully open-source. Use them, fork them, build on them.
Free TradingView Indicators
Seven scripts, split into two buckets: investing strategies that tell you what to do with position size, and technical & macro indicators that tell you where you are in the cycle. Each section leads with its Tier 1 flagship.
Investing Indicators & Strategies
Rule-based trend strategies that turn the trend into an actual position-sizing decision.
The 8th Rule
DurdenBTC’s flagship Bitcoin trend strategy — once a paid-subscriber exclusive, now completely free. Two engines, GVTS and VATS, vote on every bar to answer the only question that matters: how convinced should you be? The output is a regime-based position size — flat, a 25% probe, or a 100% full allocation — with webhook-ready alerts. Tuned for Bitcoin on the daily, with tested presets for SPX, QQQ, Gold, and major altcoins.

The 6th Rule
A two-factor trend strategy for Bitcoin and the S&P 500 that scores the market Bullish, Neutral, or Bearish. Factor one reads price momentum against the medium-term trend; factor two reads the volatility regime, with a stress-recovery override built to catch the V-shaped bottoms most trend systems miss. Scaled mode runs full, half, or flat exposure. BTC and SPY presets included.

Dual Signal Trend Sentinel
A Bitcoin trend-following strategy built on Volatility-Adjusted Momentum (VAMS). It z-scores price distance from a 63-day quarterly-cycle baseline to classify the market into clean Bullish, Neutral, and Bearish regimes — keeping you in the major moves and stepping aside before deep drawdowns. Independently backtested 2014–2026: 65.9% CAGR, 26.8% max drawdown, 3.26 profit factor.

Cycle, valuation, and liquidity context — the macro backdrop that drives every Bitcoin trend.
Bitcoin Macro & Liquidity Regime Tracker
The free flagship of the macro toolkit. It blends eleven-plus macroeconomic and on-chain inputs — ISM, CPI, global M2, DXY, Fed net liquidity, MVRV, the Mayer Multiple and more — into a single 0–100 Bitcoin liquidity regime score. It classifies the cycle into Accumulation, Expansion, Distribution, or Capitulation, surfacing macro regime shifts before price reacts. Best used on the weekly BTCUSD index.

Track the single biggest macro driver of Bitcoin: global liquidity. This indicator aggregates FX-adjusted M2 money supply across 20+ countries into one global liquidity line you can overlay directly on BTC. It includes a forward-offset input to align M2’s 84–107 day lead time, a multi-window BTC correlation matrix, and an EMA-89 Risk-On / Risk-Off regime engine with alerts.

Full Cycle Simple SMA Indicator
A clean, beginner-friendly Bitcoin cycle indicator built on the two-year SMA. It draws customizable upper and lower bands that have historically marked bull-market peaks and bear-market bottoms, plus a mid-line separating accumulation from distribution. Open-source and simple by design — proof that a good signal doesn’t need complex math.

Bitcoin Sharpe Ratio Oscillator
The classic Sharpe ratio — risk-adjusted return per unit of volatility — applied to Bitcoin as a local top-and-bottom oscillator. A red reading means BTC is temporarily overbought; green means temporarily oversold. An adjustable lookback (25–26 days works best) makes it a fast, intuitive timing gauge. Fully open-source.

Open-source software for traders who want to verify, not just trust. Everything here lives on GitHub — auditable, forkable, and free under an open licence.
Survival Alpha
An open-source command-line toolkit for honest backtesting. Survival Alpha runs hygiene checks on TradingView strategy results, recomputes performance metrics the honest way, flags look-ahead bias and overfit parameters, and translates Pine Script logic into Python for independent verification. Built for traders who want to trust their numbers.

The 8th Rule trend system, re-implemented as an open-source Python indicator — fully transparent logic you can audit, backtest, and extend yourself. Currently in development; the repository will land here when it’s ready.
Coming soonWhen the Free Tools Aren’t Enough
The free indicators are real, usable tools — not crippled demos. But they’re tools, and a tool still needs a hand on it. The paid side of DurdenBTC is the full systematic implementation: the Macro Regime Engine for equities, the Arsenal BTC trend system for Bitcoin, a live members dashboard with daily signals, and the complete research archive. If the free tools earned your trust, that’s where the rest of it lives.
Free tools earn trust. Trust is the only currency that matters. Use what’s here, keep what works, and decide for yourself if the full system is worth it.
